Salient is a new, sleek, ultra-responsive WordPress theme from ThemeNectar that is really quite lovely. Off the bat it looks like it’s perfect for design agencies, but it could easily be used for a photography website.
One of the main things you’ll notice right away is how the logo and header shrink down when you scroll the page, which is a new jquery feature that I’ve noticed a couple of site designers introducing recently. I like it and it adds a little bit of uniqueness to the theme’s design. It’s the little things like that that I think really sell themes. But once you browse the theme you’ll notice more details and how clean it looks. And it’s just as nice in the WordPress admin.
Theme Options Panel
The theme options panel is really nicely laid out and includes all the options one would expect from a premium theme. ThemeNectar has taken the extra time to create really easy to use shortcodes that even include adding icons in 3 different sizes to your posts or pages as well as all the columns, pricing tables one would expect to see.
Other Features
Of course you’ll notice the portfolio/gallery section that allow you to create nice portfolio sections on your site. You can create a portfolio of videos, photos or slideshows with each portfolio item linked to it’s own single portfolio page.
There are several homepage templates that allow you to have different styles of homepages… ie ones showcasing recent works, recent posts or a mixture of the two along with a large widescreen slider.
You can create customized headers for each page or post with a custom image and custom text.
